Assist Project Executives in drafting meeting minutes for design meetings. Collaborate with Project Executives on design and construction issues through discussions about the weekly updated designs from the Design Builder. Conduct research on design precedents and principles aligned with BBJ objectives. Support Project Executives in reviewing contracts, submittals, specifications and drawings, and Public Design Commission comments and submissions .
Support Administrative Construction Manager with Contract Oversight Management meetings through coordination, preparation and disbursement of agendas and meeting minutes

Flad Architects: Architecture Associate I

Throughout the 1 year and 11 months as an Architectural Associate with Flad, I’ve had the opportunity to participate throughout all project phases in the science and technology industry. I’ve created graphics and models in the conceptual design phase in addition to generation graphics for Entitlement Packages. Throughout the schematic design, design development and construction documentation periods, I assisted the team and the Project Architect in generating the drawing and continuously monitored the progress of the general sheets. In addition to the work I’ve conducted on specific projects, I also utilized benchmarking metrics and contributed to project research, information gathering and creating graphics for a core and shell building, lab science building and an academic building with laboratory spaces. In CA, I helped facilitate the record document process by ensuring that RFI’s and submittals were accounted for on our record drawings.

Liminal Space: Director of Research, Strategy and Exhibitions

As a Design Strategist at Liminal Space, I created strategy frameworks that impacted design and culture while deploying user research methods and engagement activities in addition to developing a brand strategy for the liminalsp.org website. Additionally, I facilitated and researched RFP grant opportunities for the Liminal House project while involving the artist community in the architectural design process.

D2A Studio: Designer + Design Strategist

As an a designer at D2A studio, I developed a presentation quality 3D Sketchup model for a single family home in Long Island, NY, in addition to developing a proposal and conceptual designs for the Spatial Activation competition for NYCHA’s Bushwick Houses which was awarded to the D2A Studio team by the Neighborhood State organization.

ALIF: Independent Designer , Researcher, Design Strategist

As an Independent Designer and Researcher I developed the amnakhan.space website to showcase past and present work and ultimately highlight current interest, using Squarespace.com. In addition to this, I pursued research and design opportunities in which I researched design trends impacted by the pandemic and worked directly with the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice to design healing spaces for the Brownville, NY community.

The tasks that were conducted included picking up redlines for project architects and generating graphics for drawings.

Massachusetts College of Art and Design: Artword Bound Creative Vacation Teacher

As a co-teacher for the Artword Bound Creative Vacation studio, I worked closely with high school students who were interested in the architecture field, and helped the students develop the creative and technical skills needed for admission to any art/ design college or post secondary schools. This process included working with my co-teacher to develop a syllabus and a teaching strategy that allowed students to safely pursue their design curiosities and ensured the exposure to concepts such as spatial justice and equity in design.
